THE DROPOUT QUESTION

Dropping out of school has been made to look lavish in recent society. Is it really the right thing to do at the end of the day?

     He is a Harvard drop out and billionaire with a net worth of around 72 billion dollars according to Forbes 2013 . He is the chairman of Microsoft, the world’s largest software company.

In high school and while at Harvard he spent most of his time around computers, he dropped out and started the company with friend Paul Allen.

He is a philanthropist and claims that he will leave each of his three children ten million dollars and donate the rest of his money to charity. H

e is humble as he once visited a farmer in Eldoret to check how he manages his cows, the farmer had no idea of who was in his farm till he was informed later after Gates had left!!

      He was the co-founder, chief executive of Apple and Pixar Animation Studios and a board member at Walt Disney.

He was born to students who were both unemployed. His dad had to put him up for adoption after the girl’s parents objected the relationship. He was adopted and his dad taught him how to work with electronics and his hands in the garage and his mum taught him how to read before going to school. At 4th grade he was a prankster who needed to be bribed so as to study but he used to pass.

At high school he started building computers with his friends. He enrolled at Reeds for university but dropped out because the fee was too expensive and joined creative classes where he learnt calligraphy. He however continued auditing classes at Reeds where he slept on the floor in friend’s rooms.

He returned coke bottles for money and got weekly free meals at Hare Krishna Temple. Working experience involved him leaving Apple and later returned as an adviser. He brought the company from nearby bankruptcy to profitability and oversaw development of i Mac, i TUNEs, i Pod, i Phone, i  Pad.

He earned a dollar a year as apple CEO but had shares worth 2.1 billion dollars(Apple) and Disney shares worth 4.4 billion dollars.

 

Sadly, he passed away in 2011 but left a legacy that will forever be with us.

      The Harvard dropout is accredited for launching Facebook which he started while in Harvard. Photos of students were uploaded to the site where students got to vote on which was the best looking. It of course bore complaints in the school as not all photos were uploaded voluntarily.

After dropping out his friends helped him spread it to other universities. Mark had a fascination for computers and software’s since his childhood days.

     She grew up in Lodwar, Turkana and was discovered while running a marathon. She was later crowned “Miss Nairobi” and participated in Ford’s  ‘Supermodel of the World’ competition.

Ajuma has walked on the world’s major runways including the much anticipated New York Fashion Week alongside Naomi Campbell and Alek Wek. She has modeled for Victoria’s Secrets where the likes of Kate Moss and Tyra Banks worked.

Ajuma also appeared in the ‘Sex and the City’ movie. She is married to a European millionaire.

Fairy tales certainly to exist as she has experienced a journey from Turkana,to Nairobi to Milan, New York, London among other major cities.

  He never went to design school but he followed his heart and did what he had a passion for, design. He worked for MTV’s Ecko Unlimited as a stylist.

His clothing line ‘Jamhuri Wear’ specializes in casual wear.

He has dressed the likes of Akon(in the ghetto video), Jay Z, P diddy, Ludacris, 50 Cent, K’Naan among many others.

    While still in high school he played for Ulinzi Stars, Tusker FC, and Pipeline FC. He afterwards played in Sweden then played in Italy for Parma and Inter Milan.

     IF YOU ARE GOING TO DROP PUT, BE INNOVATIVE AND BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. NONETHELESS ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT EDUCATION IS IMPORTANT. YOU HAVE TO LEARN FROM WHAT OTHERS HAVE CONTRIBUTED OR MAKE YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS.
